WESSON – The Co-Lin Wolves provided a rough welcome for theSpoon River Community College Crusaders of Canton, Ill. Wednesdayevening on Sullivan Field. Co-Lin rallied to win the opener

11-6 and cruised to a 10-0 victory in the nightcap, holding theCrusaders hitless in the 5-inning game.

Coach Keith Case’s Wolves (6-6) resume play Saturday, playing aSouth Division doubleheader at Southwest. Action begins at 1p.m.

“I’m glad to get to play two days in a row,” said Coach Case.”Wegot some more guys on the hill and were able to get moreat-bats.

“We have to get ready for Saturday at Southwest. It’s a bigdivision game for us.”

Freshman Jacob Hartwig got the win in relief of starterDerek Atkins. Hartwig replaced Jay Foster in the third, strikingout 2 batters, walking none and giving up 1 run on 5hits.

B.J. Walters started for the Crusaders and took theloss. He was greeted by Brett Duncan’s 3-run homer in the thirdwhich vaulted the Wolves to a 7-5 lead.

First baseman Britt Hederman collected 3 hits forCo-Lin. Arlandus Brown and Brandon Holleman singled and doubled forthe Wolves.

Sophomore Chuckie Stracener was the inning pitcher asthe Wolves held Spoon River (0-4) hitless in the finale. Stracener(2-0) pitched 2 innings, striking out 2 batters and walkingnone.

“We had some guys come in and pitch well for us,” saidCase. “Chuckie threw well.”

Chris Robinson replaced Stracener, fanning 1 and walking1. Chris Kennedy pitched the fifth inning, recording 2 strikeoutsand walking 1.

Two doubles by Hederman led Co-Lin’s attack in thenightcap as Co-Lin claimed a 5-0, third-inning lead. Designatedhitter Ryan Davis also doubled twice.
