Lady Wolves split fastpitch with Jones Junior College

WESSON – Co-Lin and Jones County Junior College split a pair ofsoftball games Thursday afternoon. The Co-lin Lady Wolves outscoredthe Lady Bobcats 14-12 in the opener. Jones came back to take thenightcap in extra innings, 6-3.

Rachel Bergold and Janet Chapman had three hits apiece andKristi Moak and Tamara West added two hits to pace Co-Lin. MaryWingate and Tonya Johns each had a hit for the Lady Wolves.Bergold, Stephanie Brown and Jenny Chapman drove in two runs.
Wingate went the distance on the mound, giving up four earnedruns and 12 hits. She fanned two and walked three in gaining thevictory.
Jones 6, Co-Lin 3
In the second game, Jones pushed across three runs in the bottomof the eighth to gain a split.
Moak had three hits and Sarah Reynolds had two hits to leadCo-Lin.
Bergold was the losing pitcher giving up only one earned run andsix hits. She struck out 11 and walked five.
The Lady Wolves return to action Tuesday, March 20 with adoubleheader at home against Pearl River. The first game starts at1 p.m.
