North Pike rallies to best Wesson 8-5

MCCOMB – The North Pike Jaguars overcame a 4-3 deficit with tworuns in the fifth and three in the sixth en route to an 8-5 winover Wesson in the McComb Coca-Cola Tournament at Rotary FieldTuesday afternoon.

Phillip Coffey went 3-4 with two doubles and three RBIs to pacethe Jaguars, who pounded out 11 hits in the contest. MichaelClements, Josh Matthews and Brady Eldridge each had two hits forNorth Pike, while J.R. Alexander and Buddy Van Norman each had ahit. Matthews, Clements, Alexander and Justin Boyd all drove inruns for the Jaguars.

Dustin Shelton led the Cobras with two hits. Joseph Langham,Ryan Williams and Chris Peets each had one hit each for Wesson.Williams and Langham each drove in two runs and Peets scored tworuns and knocked in one run.

Clements started for North Pike and pitched 3 2/3 innings. Hegave up no earned runs on three hits, struck out three and walkedone. J.T. Lamkin was the winning pitcher in relief going 3 1/3innings allowing no earned runs. He struck out four and walked two.Russell Robinson was the losing pitcher going 5 1/3 innings andgiving up 0 earned runs on nine hits. He struck out three anddidn’t walk anybody. Williams came on in relief and gave up oneearned run on two hits with one strikeout in 1 2/3 innings as bothteams combined to commit nine errors.


Left-hander Dylan Roberts fired a no-hitter and struck out 10 tolead the McComb Tigers to an 11-0 five inning victory over Wessonin the McComb Coca-Cola Tournament.

The Tigers pushed across five runs in the third on singles byCharles Pittman, Vice Graves, Micheal Lewis and Pat Barnes, plusthree Cobra errors. McComb added six runs in the third on doublesby Chaney Spiers and Graves, and singles by Kevin Abel andLewis.

Kyle Smith suffered the loss for the Cobras. He gave up ninehits, struck out two, walked three and hit one batter.

Wesson returns to McComb’s Rotary Field Thursday to take onBrookhaven at 11 a.m. and Lawrence County at 1 p.m.
