The host West Lincoln Bears swept the Hazlehurst Indians in abaseball doubleheader Tuesday afternoon. West Lincoln won theopener 11-5 and the final 8-4.

West Lincoln (6-3, 1-1) resumes baseball play on Tuesday, March20, when the Bears host Division 7-1A foe Dexter.

West Lincoln 11, Hazlehurst 5

In the first game, the Bears trailed the Indians 4-1after two and one-half innings. West Lincoln exploded for five runsin the bottom of the third for a 6-4 lead. Hazlehurst was outscored5-1 in the final two innings for the loss.

The winning pitcher was Corey Easley in relief ofstarter Cody Mitchell. Mitchell worked for two and one-half inningswith five strikeouts and four walks. Easley fanned six and walkedone.

Fred Short absorbed the loss in five innings, strikingout two and walking three.

At the plate for West Lincoln, Mitchell led with a homerun and a double. Jamie Sisco ripped a homer and a single.Collecting a pair of doubles was Easley. Jeremy Branning and CodyHall singled.

For Hazlehurst, Pat King homered. Mario Gary doubled andsingled. Steve Short hit safely.

West Lincoln 8, Hazlehurst 4

IN the finale, West Lincoln broke a 4-all tie withHazlehurst in the bottom of the fourth inning with four big runsfor the victory.

Posting the win was Branning with four strikeouts andone walk in relief of starter Sisco who worked the first threeinnings with five strikeouts and three walks.

Maurio Gary fanned four and walked three in theloss.

Adam Rushing powered the Bears with two doubles. CodyWallace doubled and singled. Ripping a pair of singles was Hall.Easley and Branning hit a double apiece. Sisco, Landon Case andDale Wheat hit safely.

The Indians got two singles apiece from King and Short.Gary and Mitchell Sutton singled.
