Henegan leads Saints over Loyd Star Hornets

Jim Henegan pitched and batted the St. Andrew’s Saints to a 7-3Tuesday night victory over the host Loyd Star Hornets in Division6-2A action. Henegan gave up 5 hits, struck out 2 batters andwalked 1. Most importantly, he hit a 3-run homer in the seventh tobreak open a close game.

Henegan was replaced by Trea Brown in the top of the fifth.Brown allowed 1 hit, fanned 3 batters and walked 1.

Cass Brister started on the mound for Loyd Star. He fanned 4batters, walked 2 and gave up 7 hits.

Seth Britt relieved Brister in the top of the sixth. Britt gaveup 2 hits, struck out 4 and walked 1.

With the loss, Loyd Star fell to 8-5 overall and 2-1 in divisionplay. The Saints are 8-5 and 3-0.

“The home run in the seventh kind of broke it open for them,”said Loyd Star coach Anthony Hart. “We made a couple of errorsearly in the game.”

The Hornets got 2 hits from Brad Britt and Chase Coley. AdamSpeeg homered and Jody Britt tripled.

Loyd Star hosts Wayne County Friday for a doubleheader, startingat 1 p.m.
