Services for John Henry Brister of Brookhaven are 2:30 p.m.Sunday, April 1, at Wellman Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday, March 31, from 1:30 p.m. until servicetime at the church. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Mr. Brister, 67, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at UniversityMedical Center in Jackson. He was born in Lincoln County on June 4,1933, to the late Melton and Tera Smith Brister.

He was a retired self-employed barber and was the formerowner/operator of Brister’s Grocery Store in the MallalieuCommunity. He was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors are his wife, Catherine Kyzar Brister of Brookhaven;son, Dennis E. Brister Sr. of Brookhaven; daughter, Karon Bristerof Brookhaven; brothers, Bill Brister and Paul Brister, both ofBogue Chitto, the Rev. Sammy Brister of Ardmore, Ala., and BarryBrister of Caseyville; sister, Merle Buie of Caseyville; sevengrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces andnephews.
