Brook Academy girls win state tennis title

RIDGELAND – The Brookhaven Academy girls and boys doubles teamscaptured four individual state championships during Wednesday’sState AA Tennis Tournament. The Brookhaven Academy girls finishedfirst and the boys team was second in team scoring.
Winning state titles were the No. 1 girls doubles team ofLindsey Phillips and Madeline Hall, the No. 2 girls doubles team ofJoey Sessums and Anna C. Moak, the No. 1 boys doubles team of CraigSmith and Jimmy Lathem and the No. 2 boys doubles team of JakeSessums and Collins Case.
In the No. 1 boys singles, Cougar Jerrod Rayborn finishedrunner-up.
All of these Brookhaven Academy players are competing today inthe Overall Tournament being held at the Bridges Tennis Center andthe Ridgeland Tennis Center.

No. 1 boys doubles: Ballard-Metts (Winston) d. Meader-Debatty(Canton) NA; Craig Smith-Jimmy Lathem (BA) d. Harville-Anderson(Kirk) 6-1, 6-0; Smith-Lathem (BA) d. Ballard-Metts (Winston) 6-1,3-6, 6-4.
No. 2 boys doubles: Cress-Williams (Presby C) d. Davis-Miller(Winston) 6-1, 6-0; Jake Sessums-Collins Case (BA) d.Harville-Anderson (Kirk) 6-1, 6-0; Sessumns-Case (BA) d.Cress-Williams (Presby C) 6-4, 6-4.
