Opal June Reasoner Newton, 69, died after a lengthy illnessMonday, May 14, 2001, in Livermore, Calif.
She was born in Coleman County, Texas. Her family migrated toPleasanton, Calif., at the end of the depression. She graduatedfrom Amador High School in 1949. She married Sherman L. Newton,formally of Brookhaven, where he lived until he joined the U.S.Navy in 1948. In 1956, she and her family moved to Livermore,Calif. She had worked for Jackson and Perkins Rose Company and theFirst National Bank in Pleasanton. She was a homemaker and involvedin a number of service groups in Livermore.
She was a longtime member of the Livermore PresbyterianChurch.
She was preceded in death by a son, Randall.
Survivors are her husband of 52 years; sons, Michael andRichard, both of Livermore; daughter, Juanita of Washington;sister, Barbara Rasmussen of Walnut Creek, Calif.; step-sister,Sharon Reasoner of Bakersfield, Calif.; seven grandchildren; andnieces and nephews.
