Services for Tom Edgar Carney of Monticello are 11 a.m.Saturday, June 30, at Sauls Valley Baptist Church with burial inthe church cemetery.

Visitation is Friday, June 29, from 5 p.m. to service time atSauls Valley Baptist Church.

Mr. Carney, 78, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at his residence.He was born in Lawrence County on July 1, 1922, to the late Lutherand Arrie Hammond Carney.

He was retired from the state Highway Department and a farmer.He was a member of Sauls Valley Baptist Church. He was a veteran ofthe U.S. Army.

Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers, LutherCarney Jr., Vancel Carney, Willie Carney and Douglas Carney; and asister, Fannie Mae Thomas.

Survivors are his wife, Florence “Boots” Sauls Carney; sons,Tommy Carney and Ronnie Carney, all of Monticello; daughter, DonnaCarney of McComb; brother, Hebert Carney of Monticello; sister, JoAnn Allen of Brookhaven; three grandchildren; and onegreat-grandchild.
