The Hazlehurst All-Stars rode a 2-run homer by Jake Guess and1-hit pitching performance by Jake Hood to a 3-0 Saturday victoryover the Brookhaven American League All-Stars in the second roundof the Dixie Youth Major League North Subdistrict Six Tournament atKeystone Park.
In an elimination game last night, Crystal Springs booted Wesson11-2.
The double-elimination tournament resumes play Monday atKeystone Park. The Americans play Crystal Springs at 6 in anelimination game. The Brookhaven Nationals tackle Hazlehurst at8.

Hood fanned 4 batters and walked 4 in the victory.Taylor Newman’s single was the only hit for the AmericanLeague.
Josh Coone started on the mound for Brookhaven and wasreplaced by Daniel Watson in the third, with Hazlehurst leading1-0. Zach Watson pitched the final 2 frames.
At the plate, Jonathan Grace doubled for Hazlehurst.Preston Berry and Guess singled.
Hazlehurst scored twice in the fourth on the homer byGuess.

Winning pitcher Jake Smith struck out 8 batters andwalked 6. Alan Stegall fanned 7 and walked 2 in a losing cause forWesson.
At the plate, David Hobkirk homered and doubled asCrystal Springs took a 7-0, third-inning lead. Daniel Sims tripledand singled. Ben Stevens tripled and Smith doubled. Sam Thornton,Kent Miller and Matt Wright singled.

At Summit, the Brookhaven All-Stars defeated Summit 7-3Saturday in the Dixie Boys 13s District Tournament. Brookhavenplays Natchez Monday night at 6:30.
