Services for Mattie Lou Hedgepeth Davis of Monticello are 2 p.m.Sunday, July 8, at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with burial in BethelBaptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday, July 8, from 9 a.m. until service time atthe funeral home.

Mrs. Davis, 78, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, of heart failure atLawrence County Hospital. She was born in Monticello on May 3,1923, to the late Clint and Ellen Smith Hedgepeth.

She ran a bait shop for many years and was known as the “CricketLady” to many. She was a member of Monticello United MethodistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents and husband, Jewel”Dude” Davis.

Survivors are her son, Eddie Joe Davis of Monticello; twograndchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
