Brook 14s eliminated by Franklin Co. 12-8

NATCHEZ – Franklin County eliminated Brookhaven’s All-Stars 12-8Monday night at Liberty Park in the second round of the Dixie Boys14s Tournament at Liberty Park. Brookhaven lost to Wilk-Amite 10-0Saturday in the opening round of the double-eliminationtournament.

Wilk-Amite eliminated Copiah County 7-5 last night and wasscheduled to play the winner of the Natchez-Summit gametonight.

“We made errors we couldn’t afford to make,” said Brookhavenmanager Duane Allred. “Our kids gave a 100 percent effort. Theynever gave up.”

Joseph Hart was the losing pitcher. Rightfielder StevenGates had 2 singles for Brookhaven. Hart and Jamie Williamssingled.

Alex White was the winning pitcher.

Franklin 12, Brookhaven 8

Baron Jones was the winning pitcher in relief ofFranklin County starter Chase Coon. Justin Whatley absorbed theloss. Whatley was relieved by Trey Allred in thesixth.

At the plate, Allred singled twice and doubled. Whatleydoubled and singled. Catcher Jason Nix and second baseman BlakeMcKee singled twice. Gates,Timmy Montgomery and Russel l Brewersingled.

Brookhaven trailed Franklin County 12-5.

Catcher Jasper O’Quinn singled and doubled for FranklinCounty . Coon hit a grand slam homer in the fourth inning to pushFranklin County ahead 7-3. Matthew Hester singled anddoubled.
