Summit’s 10-run rally sinks Brookhaven 13s

SUMMIT -The Summit All-Stars exploded for 10 runs in the sixthinning and defeated Brookhaven 18-10 Tuesday night in asweat-soaked elimination game at Windsor Gay Youth Sports Complex.The victory sends Summit against unbeaten Natchez tonight at 6 inthe finals of the Dixie Boys 13s double-elimination DistrictTournament.

Brookhaven had taken a 5-0 lead in the first inning, collecting5 hits. Summit tied the game at 7-7 in the fifth inning. In thedecisive sixth, Summit sent 18 batters to the plate and collected 7hits as Brookhaven committed 3 errors.

Landon Morgan pitched the first 2 innings for Summit. ChrisFleming replaced Morgan and Brian Terrell finished the game.

Tyler Williford was the losing pitcher. He was replaced byBrandt Hinton in the sixth.

Leading Brookhaven at the plate were Chance Peets, Hinton andWilliford with 2 hits apiece.

Ryan Hall led Summit with a 4-for-5 performance. Kyle Howardhomered and finished with 3 hits. Morgan had 2 hits. Brendon VanNorman and Ben Wall each had 2 hits for Summit.

Summit beat the Brookhaven Americans 11-1 Tuesday nightin the Dixie Youth Baseball AAA District Six Tournament at PineHills in Gloster.
