W. Lincoln Lady Bears overpower Brookhaven

West Lincoln whipped Brookhaven’s Lady Panthers 10-0 Tuesdaynight in a makeup game at the Cow Palace. Hanna Roberts (6-1) wasthe winning pitcher, striking out 2 and not allowing a base onballs in 5 innings.

The Lady Bears (6-1, 1-0) finished with 10 hits, led byshortstop Dana King who doubled and singled. Right-centerfielderBrittnee Smith doubled and extra hitter Christy Lindigrin tripled.Singles were provided by Jennifer Richardson, Lyndsay Franklin,Chastity Avants, Emily Richardson, Amber Delaune and Roberts asWest Lincoln exploded for 7 first-inning runs.

“We had some excellent plays on defense,” said West Lincolncoach Andrew Redd. “We saved several h its and kept them off thebases and out of scoring position.”

Mandy Vinson was the losing pitcher. She walked 4 batters angave up 10 hits.

Brookhaven was limited to 3 hits. Chiquita Rancifer, SamanthaBoutwell and Courtney Fielder singled.

In the junior varsity game, Brookhaven posted a 7-4victory. Brittany Phillips tripled for West Lincoln. Alicia Kennedyand Brittnee Smith singled twice. Nicole Laird, Jessie Jergins andHaley Smith singled.

Brookhaven got a double and single from Megan Bateman.Kelly Vinson singled twice.

West Lincoln resumes play Thursday, hosting Bogue Chittofor a Division 7-1A doubleheader. The JV game starts at 5, followedby the varsity at 6.
