Lady Bobcats 8-2 over Enterprise

BOGUE CHITTO – The team that makes the least amount of errorswill be the one that will probably come out on top in the Division7-1A slowpitch softball race. Three teams, Bogue Chitto, Enterpriseand West Lincoln, are fighting for 2 spots in the playoffs.

The Bogue Chitto Lady Bobcats took a turn towards a possibleplayoff berth with an 8-2 win over the Enterprise Lady YellowJackets Thursday night.

Bogue Chitto delivered a 5-3 win over Enterprise in the JVgame.

Bogue Chitto hosts Dexter on Monday for a division test. The JVgame starting at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7.Enterprise host division-foe Natchez Cathedral on Monday. The JVgame begins at 5, followed by the varsity contest at 6.

With the win by the Lady Bobcats, Bogue Chitto sits atopof the division race with a 4-0 record. West Lincoln, by virtue oftheir 6-2 win over the Lady Jackets Monday, is in second place.Enterprise with its second consecutive division loss, falls tothird with a 3-2 mark.

“The team that makes the fewest errors will more thanlikely win their games,” said Lady Bobcat head coach AdrianeAlbritton following the game.

Both teams exhibited some scintillating defensive stopsduring the 7-inning affair. Some costly errors by Enterprise seemedto be the difference in the game.

Enterprise (7-2) opened the scoring in their half of thefirst. Nikki Leggett led off the game with a single. AshleyPalomarez singled, advancing Leggett to second. A sac fly by LaceyPalomarez moved the runners to third and second respectively.Breann Laird reached on an error, that allowed Leggett to score.Palomarez would later score and Enterprise would entertain a 2-0lead.

Bogue Chitto (8-0) cut their deficit to 2-1 in thebottom half of the inning. Jessica Melton doubled. Two batterslater, Marquita Ratcliff doubled, scoring Melton.

The Lady Bobcats continued their offensive in the third,taking a 4-1 lead. Melton singled. Randi Moak singled to scoreMelton, and moved to second on a throwing error by the LadyJackets. Ratcliff reached on a 3-base error, allowing Moak toscore. Ratcliff would score, on Meleah Brown’s sacrifice groundball.

Albritton’s ballclub put 4 runs on the scoreboard in thefifth, taking advantage of 2 Enterprise mistakes. Karen Wallacesingled. Melton reached on a 2-base error, moving Wallace to third.Moak singled to score Wallace. Ratcliff singled to score Melton.Brown reached on an error, scoring Moak. Tracy Wallace’s sac flyscored Ratcliff.

“We take advantage of any errors against us,” addedAlbritton.

Bogue Chitto was led by Melton, who went 2-for-3 with asingle, a double and 3 runs scored. Moak singled twice, scoredtwice and had 2 RBIs. Ratcliff had a single, a double, scored 2runs and had 3 RBIs. Karen Wallace had 2 singles.

Enterprise got offensive support from Ashley Palomarezwith 3 singles and a run scored.

“We are in a slump,” said Enterprise head coach SteveSasser. “We are not hitting the ball. We have alot of soulsearching to do.”

In the JV game, Bogue Chitto posted the 5-3 win.Collecting singles for the Lady Bobcats were Haley Roberts, JessicaSmith, Danielle Sasser, Candace Braxton, Jessica Harrell, WendiFairchild, Tasha Jordan and Akia Nelson. Scoring for Bogue Chittowere Smith, Harrell and Nelson.

The Lady Jacket offensive was led by Kaylin Burke with asingle and 2 runs scored. Eron Thornhill singled and scored a run.Savannah Palomarez singled and scored a run. Deanna Albrittonscored a run. Dara Moak and Allison Gordon singled.
