Two charged with robbing Bude bank

BUDE — Suspects in the armed robbery of Bank of Franklin didn’thave long to spend the money they allegedly took Monday –authorities had them handcuffed in less than an hour.
Reo Covington, 26, of Davenport, Iowa, and Katrina RayannCrosby, 24, of East Moline, Ill., were arrested around noon Mondayand charged with armed robbery after they were seen in a greenChevrolet Celebrity matching the description of one involved in the11:15 a.m. bank robbery.
“A game warden spotted the vehicle on Burt Jordan Road, just offHighway 98, and they were arrested without incident,” FranklinCounty Sheriff James Newman said.
The two are being held without bond, and investigators believethe couple may be connected to several other bank robberies in afew northern states.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will furtherinvestigate the Bank of Franklin robbery, which involved a bombthreat.
“He gave the teller a note demanding they give him the money orbe bombed,” Newman explained.
A bomb was not displayed during the robbery, according toNewman, but the suspect was holding an object in his pocket. Acellular phone with a metal object taped to it was found inCovington’s possession, along with an undetermined amount ofcash.
Newman was grateful for the assistance of officers from the BudePolice Department, Mississippi Highway Patrol, Franklin CountySheriff’s Department and Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries andParks.
“The officers did real good making the arrest within an hour,”he said. “Everybody covered the bases and the main thing is nobodygot hurt.”
