NATCHEZ – Forward Ancy Myers pumped in 15 points and pulled downsix rebounds to power the Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars to a62-31 win over the Porter’s Chapel Lady Eagles Tuesday night in thesecond round of the Adams County Christian School Girls TipoffTournament.

Brookhaven Academy (4-0) will face Tensas (La.) Thursday at 5:15p.m. The junior high girls game begins at 4 p.m.

“I thought everybody contributed,” said Brookhaven Academy girlshead coach Barry Gray. “I am pleased with the win.”

Brookhaven Academy jumped out to a 19-12 lead over Porter’sChapel in the first quarter. The Lady Cougar defense took over thesecond and third quarters allowing the Lady Eagles just threepoints as Brookhaven Academy went into the final frame up 44-15over Porter’s Chapel.

“In the third quarter, the defense was very good,” added Gray.”Porter’s Chapel is one of the best offensive teams in Class1A.”

Adding support to the Lady Cougars win with 13 points and foursteals was Kelli Byrd. Netting eight points apiece were LaurenSmith and Anna King. Smith had four assists. Tops off thebackboards with 10 rebounds was Anna Gatlin. Leah Davis finishedwith seven rebounds.

Bradi Willis paced Porter’s Chapel with 17 points.

Brookhaven Academy 59, Porter’s Chapel 27

Emily Langley led the Brookhaven Academy girls with 13 pointsand four rebounds as the Lady Cougars bear Porter’s Chapel 59-27.Kari Williams and Allyson Pickett followed with 12 points apiece.Williams also made five steals.

Porter’s Chapel got 23 points from Brittany Willis.
