CS Tigers top Franklin Co.

MEADVILLE – The Crystal Springs Tigers went into Franklin CountyBulldog Country Tuesday night and left with an unexpected sweep.The Tigers won the girls game 53-29 and the boys game 60-47.

The Bulldogs resume play Dec. 7 against Region 7-3A rival AmiteCounty.

The Lady Dawgs (0-7) hung with the Lady Tigers12-5 after one quarter of action. After 12 costly second-quarterturnovers by Franklin, Crystal Springs led 24-12 at the break.

In the second half, the Lady Tigers outscored Franklin 29-19 fortheir second straight region victory.

“I thought we were going to give them a game after the firstquarter,” said Lady Dawgs head coach Albert Cain. “Turnovers andmistakes cost us again.”

Ebony Jenkins led the victory with 18 points and Stacy Leescored 17.

The Bulldogs (1-6) trailed the Tigers (2-6)31-20 at the half.

Chris Jordan’s Dawgs outscored the Tigers 10-6 in the thirdframe, trailing by one point, (37-36) heading in to the fourth.

The fourth quarter began as a classic duel until two Bulldogstarters fouled out. Juniors Anthony Wilcher and Josh Bradfordexited with five personals. Bradford fouled with with 1:29remaining while Wilcher went to the bench with 48 seconds togo.

The Tigers then ran the clock out with numerous free throws andrebounds for the hard-fought victory.

“Late fouls and turnovers hurt us at the end,” said Jordan.

The Tigers got 18 points from Jeffery Frazier and 17 from JesseTaylor.
