St. Joseph shuts down Brookhaven

The Madison St. Joseph Bruins swept three soccer games from theBrookhaven Panthers Saturday at the Sports Complex. Brookhaven’svarsity boys lost to St. Joe 2-1 and the varsity girls lost 8-2.The junior varsity boys were shut out 9-0.
The Panthers (2-3) got one goal from forward Justin Windham inthe second half. The Bruins had 23 shots on goal. Domenick DiPaoloworked overtime as Brookhaven’s goalkeeper.
“We should have won the game,” said Brookhaven boys coach RobMcCreary. “We had some shots but they wouldn’t go in. We have abunch of young players who need to grow up.”
Brookhaven resumes play Monday at the Sports Complex, hostingLawrence County for a Division 6-4A game, starting at 5:30 with thevarsity girls. This is the first division game of the season forthe Panthers w ho won the division last year and advanced to thestate playoffs.
