Services for Norman E. Pevey of Clinton are 11 a.m., Wednesday,Jan. 9, at First Baptist Church in Clinton with burial in ClintonCemetery with Masonic Rites.
Visitation is today from 4-7 p.m. at Wright and Ferguson FuneralHome in Clinton and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time atthe church.
Mr. Pevey, 88, died Jan. 7, 2002, at the V. A. Medical Center.He was born in Lincoln County on Jan. 25, 1913, to Marcus J. Peveyand Mary Jane Ross Pevey. He attended Brookhaven Schools.
In 1934 he moved to New Orleans and managed the Hill GroceryStore Chain. He was a member of Clinton Lions Club and received theMelvin Jones Fellow Award for dedicated humanitarian service. Hewas a member of the Central Mississippi Rose Society, the ClintonMasonic Lodge, and the Woodmen of the World in Brookhaven. He was amember of First Baptist Church in Clinton and served as chairman ofdeacons, Sunday school teacher, head usher, and was a member of theBrotherhood. He was an Army veteran of WWII and was in the Battleof the Bulge and in Italy.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, ReginaldPevey; and his sister, Sara May.
Survivors are his wife, Louise Martin Pevey of Clinton; hisdaughter, Peggy Jane Pevey of Clinton; his sons, Gerald Pevey andCharles Pevey, both of Clinton; and nine grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Clinton.
