Senior forward Seth Britt sacked 19 points in leading the LoydStar Hornets to a 55-42 Tuesday night triumph over the visitingsSt. Andrew’s Saints. Britt hit 5 of his first 6 shots and had 13points in the first quarter.

In the varsity girls game, St. Andrew’s beat Loyd Star 44-37 asAnna Marsh scored 17 points for the Lady Saints.

Loyd Star resumes play Friday night at West Marion.

The Hornets (16-6, 8-4) were led on the backboards byJermaine Hunter with 8 boards. Seth Britt had 6 rebounds and 4steals. Jared Britt had 18 points, 5 steals and 2 assists. DemarcusBarnes chipped in 13 points and 2 assists as the Hornets avenged anearlier loss at St. Andrew’s.

“Seth really played well, especially the first quarter,”said Loyd Star coach Gene “Moochie” Britt. “He probably had hisbest shooting game of the season.”

Coach Britt said he hopes to be seeded second in nextweek’s Division 6-2A Tournament at McLaurin.

The Lady Hornets (13-9, 8-4) led 7-6 in the firstquarter, trailed 19-13 in the second and 27-23 going into the finalframe. St. Andrew’s went on a 17-14 run to secure thewin.

“We’re not playing well,” said Loyd Star girls coachLori Britt. “We are not playing our best right now.”

Jamakia Henderson powered the Lady Hornets with 10points and nine rebounds. Jordan Britt and Ava Brown netted eightpoints apiece. Shara Johnson collected five rebounds.

In the JV boys game, Loyd Star posted a 55-25 victory,led by Brooks Case with 13 points. Kordae Otis added 9 points andJosh Townsend 5.

The Saints got 9 points from Brent Smith.
