Co-Lin Wolves split with LSU-Eunice

EUNICE, La. – The Co-Lin Wolves split a Friday afternoonbaseball doubleheader with the host LSU-Eunice Tigers. The 16-10Wolves won the opener 8-1 and fell to the Tigers 3-2 in thefinale.

“I thought both of our pitchers, Seth Lofton and Mitch Mangum,threw extremely well,” said Co-Lin head coach Keith Case. “We swungthe ball extremely well in the first game but we lost some focuswith our bats in the second game.”

In the opener, Co-Lin went up 2-1 after three innings.The Wolves added six more runs to secure the win.

Seth Lofton posted the victory with five strikeouts andfour walks in seven innings.

Darrin Calendar was the losing hurler. Also seeingaction were Cory Coward in the fifth and Trent Lebouef in theseventh.

Co-Lin collected 15 hits to Eunice’s fourhits.

Sophomore first baseman Brandon Holleman led Co-Lin witha home run and a double. David Gray and Matt Lea collected threesingles apiece. Ryan Davis doubled and singled. Paris Dancey hadtwo hits apiece.

For LSU-Eunice, John Burnhard, Brad Smith, Eric Kennyand Blake Sibley hit safely.

Randy Crossland singled to score Brad Mathis in thesixth inning and give the host Tigers the win over the Wolves inthe second game of the doubleheader.

Co-Lin had, tied the game in the top of the sixth at2-all.

Larry Besse got the win and Mitch Mangum absorbed theloss. Mangum fanned five batters.

“Going into the fourth Mitch had a perfect game going,”said Case. “He had not walked a batter or given up ahit.”

Dancy ripped two hits for the Wolves. Chase Coley, Bealland Davis hit safely.

Burnhart homered for the Tigers, aided by the wind. NickLandry doubled.

Co-Lin returns to Sullivan Field Tuesday to host thePearl River Wildcats for a South Division doubleheader, starting at4 p.m.
