Services for Docia Leola “Aunt Gronia” Smith of Brookhaven were11 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with burialin the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home was in charge ofarrangements.

Miss Smith, 91, died May 27, 2002, at Beverly Health Care. Shewas born in Lincoln County on Aug. 29, 1910, to John Everett Smithand Alice Foster Smith. She was a lifelong resident of LincolnCounty.

She was Mississippi’s first female school bus driver. She drovea milk truck and worked at Wayne Smith’s Tomato Houses. She was amember of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers, CliftonSmith, Julius “Buck” Smith, and John E. “Bilbo” Smith; and hersister, Hallie Walker.

Survivors are her special nephew and his wife, J. C. and PeggySmith; her sisters-in-law, Lois Smith and Annie Mae Smith; hersisters, Velma Smith, Josie Dell Smith and Vadie Lee Johns; and ahost of other nieces and nephews.
