Services for William T. “Tinker” Newsom of Prentiss are 1 p.m.Wednesday, June 5, at Wanilla Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday, June 4, from 5-9 p.m. at Wilson FuneralHome and Wednesday, June 5, from 10 a.m. until service time atWanilla Baptist Church.

Mr. Newsom, 84, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at his residence. Hewas born in Jackson on March 11, 1918, to the late Samuel E. andMinnie Keen Newsom.

He was a brakeman with Southern Railroad and a section foremanwith Mississippi Central Railroad.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Roscoe MorganNewsome; and sisters, Barbara Boutwell and Ruby Thornhill.

Survivors are his wife, Yevette Rutledge Newsom of Prentiss;daughter, Carolyn Adcock of Prentiss; brothers, Samuel Newsome ofSontag and Joseph P. Newsome of Brookhaven; sisters, Margaret R.Pepper and Etta Fay Hibbard of Brookhaven, Marie Evans of Biloxiand Pauline Lambert and Sarah E. Calcote of Wanilla; fourgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
