Services for Russell E. Newell of Brookhaven are 2 p.m.,Thursday, June 13, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery.

Visitation is today from 5-10 p.m. at Brookhaven FuneralHome.

Mr. Newell, 86, died June 11, 2002, at Country Brook LivingCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on Sept. 6, 1915, to A. C.Newell Sr. and Haley Newell Newell.

He was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was a member ofMt. Zion Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife,Marguerite Walker Newell; two grandchildren and five sisters.

Survivors are his wife, Wessie S. Newell of Brookhaven; his son,Jerome Newell of Lawrence County; his stepson, Jackie Walker ofColumbus; his daughters, Peggy Rutland of Lawrence County andEarline Allen of Wesson; his stepdaughter, Gail White ofBrookhaven; his brother, A. C. Newell of Brookhaven; his sister,Ruby Lee Britt of Brookhaven; and eight grandchildren and a numberof great-grandchildren.

Janice Gail Norris

Services for Janice Gail Norris of Bude were 11 a.m., Wednesday,June 12, at Mundy Funeral Home in Jamestown, Tenn., with burial inCrockett Cemetery in Jamestown.

Mrs. Norris, 41, died June 7, 2002, in Franklin County. She wasborn in Indiana on May 19, 1961, to Straw Norris and Reva JuneGunter Norris.

She was a homemaker.

Preceding her in death was her mother.

Survivors are her sons, Willie, Rick and Robert Norris ofMeadville; her father, Straw Norris of Jamestown; her brothers,James Brannon of Kokomo, Ind., Johnny Brannon, Sam Threet, andDanny Threet, all of Jamestown, Freddie Webster Jr. of Alabama, andMichael Norris of Brookhaven; and one grandchild.
