Services for Luther James Bairfield of New Orleans are 11:30a.m., Saturday, July 6, at Mt. Peter Rock Baptist Church in Wessonwith burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday from 8-9 a.m. at Gaskin-Southall-Gordon& Gordon Mortuary.

Mr. Bairfield, 82, died June 30, 2002, at V.A. Medical Center.He was a native of Wesson.

He was a retired longshoreman machine operator. He was a memberof New Isreal Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He served inthe Army.

Survivors are his wife, Julia M. Blanchard Bairfield; hisstepson, Clifford J. Blanchard of New Orleans; his stepdaughters,Alecia Blanchard, Barbara Blanchard, Carol Paxton, and DedraNachapeu, all of Atlanta; and seven grandchildren and fivegreat-grandchildren.
