Services for James “J. E.” Hooker of Caseyville are 11 a.m.,Sunday, Aug. 18, at Zion Chapel A.M.E. Church with burial in ScottCemetery.

Visitation is Saturday from noon until 7 p.m. with family hourfrom 6-7 p.m. at Williams Mortuary.

Mr. Hooker, 83, died Aug. 12, 2002, at his residence. He wasborn in Lincoln County on Dec. 4, 1918, to William Hooker and AnnieThomas.

He was retired after 20 years with the Lincoln County Sheriff’sDepartment. He was a member of Zion Chapel A.M.E. Church, where heserved as Sunday school superintendent, choir member, and was amember of the church steward board. He also served as steward forthe Zion circuit. He was an Army veteran.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his son, WilliamHenry Hooker.

Survivors are his wife, Farie Lee Hooker of Caseyville; hissons, Johnson N. Hooker of Brookhaven and Charles D. Hooker ofCaseyville; his daughters, Ella Pearl Wilson of Baton Rouge, MaryKeys of Brookhaven, and Elease Green of Tylertown; and 17grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
