Services for Mead Lewis of Hazlehurst were 1 p.m., Saturday,Aug. 31, at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church with burial in SardisMissionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Lewis, 78, died Aug. 27, 2002, at Hardy Wilson MemorialHospital. He was born in Copiah County on July 8, 1924, to the lateJohnny Lewis and the late Rosie Lee Harris Lewis.

He was a laborer until he became disabled.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy C. and MaryThompson of Crystal Springs, and Paul Lewis of Brunswick, Ga.; hisdaughter, Yvette Lewis of New York; his brother and sister-in-law,Haney and Thelma Catchings of Fayetteville, N.C.; his sisters,Carrie Lloyd, Georgianna Quarles and Clara Sanders, all ofBrookhaven; his uncles, Cleveland Harris of Hazlehurst, and EdwardHarris of Detroit, Mich.; his aunt, Viola Harris; his nephew, PerryCatchings of Hammond, La., and Byron Catchings of Brookhaven; hisniece, Kendra Stewart of Snellville, Ga.; and seven grandchildrenand 13 great-grandchildren.
