Ole Brook Fest still on

Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce officials werekeeping a weather eye out for Tropical Storm Isidore, but they are”plugging ahead” with plans for this weekend’s Ole BrookFestival.

“We feel like the weather’s going to be fine by Friday andSaturday,” said Chandler Russ, executive vice-president. “It’sgoing to be a wet Thursday, but the storm should be out of here bylater Thursday or early Friday.”

The festival is scheduled to begin Friday at 8 a.m. and gothrough Saturday at 11 p.m.

Russ said the chamber had received hundreds of calls fromvendors and festival-goers concerned about the event. Over 200vendors are expected to attend.

Russ said everything is still on schedule.

“All weather forecasts are that things will look fine thisweekend,” Russ said.

Russ said preparations have been and continuing to be made forthe downtown Brookhaven event.

“It’s nearly ready to go. We’re awaiting the vendors and thepeople,” Russ said.

Gospel music is on tap for Friday and Saturday. The Mid-SouthTalent Show kicks off Saturday’s events while Christian artistsNewsong, Brother’s Keeper, Rachel Lampa and Freddie Colloca will bethe featured entertainment during Saturday’s night freeconcert.

Russ said the main music stage is scheduled to arrive Thursdayevening or Friday morning.

“It will be up and ready for our entertainment,” Russ said.
