Services for the Rev. Samuel L. Brown Jr. of Brookhaven are 11a.m., Monday, Oct. 21, at Mt. Wade Missionary Baptist Church withburial in New Hope Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. at Williams Mortuaryand from 6-7 p.m. at the church.

Rev. Brown, 77, died Oct. 16, 2002, at his residence. He wasborn in Lincoln County on Oct. 20, 1924, to Samuel L. Brown Sr. andElvira Brown.

He was a retired pastor of Mt. Wade M.B. Church with more than31 years service. He was a former pastor at New Hope M.B. Church,Damascus M.B. Church, Mars Hill, Salem and Mt. Moriah. He was anarmy veteran.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Helen Brown;and his sister, Johnnie Mae Roundtree.

Survivors are his sons, Samuel H. Brown of Grand Prairie, Texas,and Kenneth J. Brown of Gurnee, Ill.; his daughters, Mazel L. Jonesof Jackson, Ilka J. Brown and Hazel L. Kenny, both of Brookhaven,and Mary M. Scarborough of Gautier; his brothers, George Brown Sr.,and Issac Robinson, both of Brookhaven; his sister, Willie MaeSmith of Brookhaven; 19 grandchildren; and 15great-grandchildren.
