Bogue Chitto stuns Natchez Cathedral

NATCHEZ – The Bogue Chitto Bobcats won a big Region 4-1A contestover the Natchez Cathedral Green Wave Friday night, posting a 14-13victory.
Bogue Chitto (4-6, 4-4) wraps up its season Friday night hostingLincoln County and region rival Enterprise.
“It was a great win,” said Bogue Chitto head coach GarethSartin. “It (Natchez) is a tough place to win.”
Bogue Chitto starting quarterback Michael Blackwell missed thegame due to back trouble.
Rico Lewis powered the Bobcats with 10 carries for 102 yards anda touchdown. Lewis rushed for a 43-yard TD in the first quarter andTodd Davis kicked the PAT to put Bogue Chitto up 7-0.
Cathedral (6-3, 5-3)scored a touchdown on a Jamaal Jackson runto cut the deficit to one point, 7-6.
In the second quarter, Davis scored a one-yard TD and kicked theextra point to push the Bobcats up 14-6.
Jackson scored the final TD for Cathedral as they came up onepoint short of the win. Jackson finished the game with 28 rushesfor 204 yards.
Adding support to the Bogue Chitto running game with 13 carriesfor 36 yards was Antonio Barnes. Cory Washington collected 25 yardson 12 carries. David Adams rushed for 22 yards on eight carries.Davis picked up 19 yards on eight carries.
“The kids played hard,” added Sartin. “We held Cathedral out ofthe ball game.”
Defensively, Davis sparked the Jackets with 10tackles. Adams and Chancy Wallace made eight tackles apiece.Barrett Wallace, Jonathan Reeves and Caleb McCaffery collectedseven tackles apiece. Deonta Thompson and Chad Moak finished withsix stops apiece. Reeves recovered an on side kick. Lewisintercepted a pass.
