Lady Wolves dunk Delta

SENATOBIA – Overcoming a sluggish start, the Copiah-LincolnCommunity College Lady Wolves defeated Mississippi Delta 62-56Monday night in the opening round of the Northwest Tournament. Theywere directed by sophomore guard Tiania Burns who scored 29points.

“We were sluggish the whole came but our solid defense kept usin the game,” said Co-Lin women’s coach Gwyn Young. “MississippiDelta had a good game plan and they played hard.”

The Lady Wolves (7-0) got 12 points and 11 rebounds fromfreshman Lauren Williams. Freshman Loretta Martin chipped in 11points and 6 rebounds.

Burns also had 7 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists. Ayme Beesonmade 3 assists and 3 steals.

“We had good play from out bench again, with Lauren Williams andLoretta Martin leading the way” said Young.

The Lady Trojans got 15 points from Lawanda Stewart and 13 fromSaprina Reed.
