Brook Academy levels Oak Forest

AMITE, La. – The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars handed the OakForest Academy Lady Yellow Jackets at 52-36 loss Tuesday night inDistrict 4-AA basketball action.
In the varsity boys game, Brookhaven whipped Oak Forest by 40points, 69-29.
The Lady Cougars, coached by Barry Gray,improved to 16-0 on the season. Coach Dale Watts’ Cougars are8-0.
The Lady Cougars led the Lady Jackets 14-10 at the end of thefirst quarter. Brookhaven was up 26-18 at the half and pushed itslead to 40-24 going into the final frame.
Powering the Lady Cougars with 15 points, eight rebounds andfive assists was Mallory Logan. Anna Gatlin fired in 12 points andled off the backboards with nine rebounds. Kelli Byrd netted ninepoints and grabbed five rebounds. Collecting eight points and sixrebounds was Jessie Altman.
Scoring 10 points apiece for Oak Forest were Brennan Fitzgeraldand Brittany Oliver.
In the boys game, the Cougars mauled theJackets 20-6 in the first quarter and continued their domination inthe second quarter for a 44-13 lead at the half.
Craig Smith and Alan Oster had 13 points apiece for Brookhaven.Cole Hodges followed with 11 points. Tops off the backboards withthree rebounds apiece were Cole Smith and Trey Waldrop. LayneMoreton led in assists with five followed by Winborne with four.Alex Davis made four steals.
Zane Kirby’s eight points paced Oak Forest.
Junior high games
Emily Langley’s 19 points sparked the Brookhaven girls to a37-30 win over Oak Forest. Chelsie Butler picked up 12 points forOak Forest.
In the boys game, the Cougars tamed the Jackets 39-14. SethDavis scored 14 points. Alan Gray finished with nine points.
Brookhaven entertains Parklane Friday night and visits SimpsonCounty Saturday.
