Services for Elsie Mae Robbins Smith of Monticello were 11 a.m.,Friday, Dec. 20, at Monticello United Methodist Church with burialin Masonic Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge ofarrangements.

Mrs. Smith, 98, died Dec. 19, 2002, at Lawrence County NursingCenter. She was born in Lawrence County on Nov. 11, 1904, to ClaudeMonroe and Tishie Givens Robbins.

She was retired from Farmers Supply Company. She was a member ofMonticello United Methodist Church, a Sunday school teacher, and amember of the seniors group. She loved gardening, sewing, quilting,and floral arranging. She was a member of the Garden Club.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, JamesElbert Smith; her infant son, Elbert Ned Smith; her sister, ZulaArmstrong; and her brothers, Claude and Toxie Robbins.

Survivors are her sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and BettySmith of Brookhaven and Jerry and Anne Smith of Abbeville, La.; herdaughters and sons-in-law, Kate Riley of Monticello, Nell and JohnEley of Terry, and Sarah and Lovie Jones of Meadville; her brother,Ford Robbins of Mansville, Ohio; and 14 grandchildren, 21great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, six nieces andfive nephews.
