Services for Riller Smith Goering of Brookhaven are noonTuesday, Dec. 24, at New Hope M.B. Church with burial in the churchcemetery.

Visitation is Monday, Dec. 23, from noon to 7 p.m., with afamily hour from 6-7 p.m. at Williams Mortuary.

Mrs. Gearing, 93, died Dec. 17, 2002, at King’s DaughtersMedical Center. She was born in Lincoln County on March 4, 1909, tothe late John and Florence Wells Smith.

She was retired. She was a member of New Hope M.B. Church. Sheattended Goodwin School in Lincoln County.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, ErnestGearing; daughter, Mamie Gordon; brothers, Jacob Smith, MaxieSmith, Robert Smith, Alex Smith, John Smith and Emlis Smith; andsisters, Alberta Smith, Ora Lee Etheridge, Nettie Smith and MavisButler.

Survivors are her sons, Morris Gearing, Hollis Gearing and JamesGearing, all of Los Angeles; daughters, Clara Trunnell ofBrookhaven and Earnestine Gearing of Chicago, Ill.; 10grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 14great-great-grandchildren.
