Services for the Rev. Mickey King of Jacksonville, Fla., are 11a.m., Saturday, Dec. 28, at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church.

Visitation is Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Hardage Funeral Home.

The Rev. King, 68, died Dec. 22, 2002. He was born in Natchezand grew up in Brookhaven, where he lettered in football, baseball,and track, and was selected for the State All-Star BasketballTeam.

He was minister of recreation at Hendricks Baptist Church. Heserved on the Jacksonville City Council from 1971-75. He wasselected to Outstanding Young Men of America in 1974. He served onmany boards and associations for youth sports. He was a Marineveteran of the Korean War.

Survivors are his wife, Julia; his children, Lt. Col. Michael R.King and wife Nancy of Tampa, Fla., Michelle Renee King Porter andhusband Jeff of Brookhaven; Marcus King and wife Lisa ofJacksonville, and Specialist Byron King of Paso Robles, Calif.; hissister, Paulina King Nations of Brookhaven; his brother, Jerry Kingof Brookhaven; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the recreation fund of Hendricks AvenueBaptist Church, 4001 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32207.
