Services for Mary Alyce Malvaney of Brookhaven are 2 p.m.,Friday, Feb. 7, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial inWoodlawn Cemetery in Marion County at 4 p.m.
Visitation is Friday from 1 to 2 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Malvaney, 100, died Feb. 6, 2003, at her residence. She wasborn in Smith County on Oct. 23, 1902, to Jefferson Charles Belland Charolette Austin Bell.
She was a retired school teacher. She taught science in theBrookhaven and Columbia Public Schools, inspiring many students topursue careers in science and medicine. She was a member of FirstBaptist Church. She was active in the garden club and literaryclub.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Errol D.Malvaney; and her son, Dr. Errol D. Malvaney Jr.
Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Betty Ann and BillPerkins of Brookhaven; her grandsons, Don Perkins of Brookhaven,and William Perkins Jr., of Almaty, Kazakhstan; and hergreat-grandchildren, Alison Perkins, Jeff Perkins, Whitney Perkinsand Kseniya Perkins.
