Services for Frances V. Phillips of Brookhaven are 2 p.m.,Wednesday, March 5, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burialin Rosehill Cemetery.
Visitation is Wednesday from 1-2 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Phillips, 95, died March 1, 2003, at Beverly Health Care.She was born in Brookhaven on Jan. 9, 1908, to James A. Vardemanand Penelope Brown Vardeman.
She was a retired music teacher. She was a member of FirstUnited Methodist Church. She was a longtime member of the ClimbersClub and Matinee Musicale. She graduated from CincinnatiConservatory of Music, and studied at the American Conservatory inChicago. As a concert pianist, she played with the CincinnatiSymphony and the Louisiana State University Symphony. She taught inthe music department at Louisiana State University. She taughtprivate music lessons in Brookhaven for many years.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Jasper V.Phillips; her brothers, James Alexander Vardeman Jr., and JohnBowen Vardeman; and her sisters, Jemmie Lavinia and MayMillsapps.
Survivors are her sister-in-law, Joyce Phillips; her nephews,James Alexander Vardeman III, Paul Vardeman and John Phillips; andher dear devoted friend, Angelina Mary Martin.
