Law officers are still searching for vandals who hit theBrookhaven Municipal Airport last weekend. We hope they find themsoon.
Airport officials said Friday that repairing the damage to therunway lighting system will cost about $6,000, including parts andlabor. That’s 6,000 taxpayer dollars. The airport also had to beclosed to nighttime landings for several days.
But, let’s forget about the money for now. We have somequestions for the culprits:
Do you realize that you could have killed somebody? Would yourprank have been worth that?
The pranksters may not be aware that tampering with airportproperty is a federal offense. Uncle Sam should throw the book atthem.
Anyone with any information regarding this crime is urged tocontact the Brookhaven Police Department.
