Services for Frances Calhoun Lumsden of Madison, formerly ofBrookhaven, were 2 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Culley’sMeadowWood Funeral Home, Timberlane Road Chapel in Tallahassee,Fla., with burial in Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park.
Visitation was Thursday, from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lumsden, 84, died April 8, 2003 in Madison. She was born inMt. Olive on May 12, 1918, to Dr. and Mrs. Archie ShepherdCalhoun.
She was a graduate of Whitworth College with a B.S. degree fromthe Mississippi State College for Women. She earned her Master’sdegree in guidance from Mississippi College. She was a junior highscience teacher and an adult, high school and elementary schoolcounselor. She was a member of the Tallahassee Camellia Society andserved as a judge in camellia shows throughout the southeast. Shewas a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She and herhusband moved to Tallahassee in 1985.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband, GeorgeRobert Lumsden.
Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Robert S. and AnnLumsden; her daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Fred Davis; hersister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Roy Black; her grandchildrenand their spouses, Robert S. Jr. and Jill Lumsden, Clay and IskraLumsden, Ginny Carroll, and J.C. Carroll; and her great-grandson,Zachary Robert Lumsden.
