Defendant opts for two guilty pleas

A Lincoln County man pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts ofsexual battery involving two former girlfriends, court officialssaid.

Darius Thrasher, 19, 483 Greenwood Lane, was ordered to servethe first year of a total six-year sentence on the charges, whichinvolved two separate indictments. He was scheduled to face trialon one indictment Tuesday, and a trial on the other indictment wasset for Tuesday, May 6.

One incident happened on Jan. 24, 2001, and the other on Oct.31, 2002, court officials said. Both victims were minors.

“The victims concurred on the sentencing offer,” said AssistantDistrict Attorney Diane Jones in discussing Thrasher’s pleaagreement.

In addition to the prison time, Thrasher was also ordered byJudge Keith Starrett to pay $500 fines on each count, $500 to thecrime victims’ compensation fund and a total of $796 in restitutionfor medical expenses. He was also ordered to complete an angermanagement class and to obtain his GED.

In one indictment, Thrasher was charged with two counts ofsexual battery, burglary of a dwelling and two counts ofcontributing to the delinquency of a minor. In the secondindictment, he was charged with sexual battery and kidnapping.

Jones said Thrasher pleaded guilty to one count of sexualbattery in each indictment. Other charges were not prosecuted.
