Services for Annisana “Nike” Smith of Brookhaven are 2 p.m.,Thursday, May 8, at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with burialin the church cemetery.
Visitation is Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m., with family hourfrom 7-8 p.m., at Williams Mortuary.
Mr. Smith, 74, died May 1, 2003, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center in McComb. He was born in Lincoln County onAug. 28, 1928, to Joe Smith and Luvenia Wells Smith.
He was a retired brick mason. He was a member of Mt. OliveMissionary Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three sisters, RoxieKeys, Della Mae Jackson, and Gladys “Hon” Barnes; and sevenbrothers, Morant Smith, Tyree Smith, Luticious Smith, Troy Smith,Pearlie Smith, Joe Emmett Smith, and Woodrow Smith.
Survivors are his wife, Lucille Smith of Gretna, La.; his sons,Joe W. Smith, Leander Smith, and Jerome Smith, all of Brookhaven,William Smith of Maywood, Ill., Jeffery Smith of Chicago, Ill.,Annisana Smith Jr., of Hartford, Conn., Nathaniel “Paul” Smith andTony Smith, both of Atlanta, Ga., and Patrick “Tim” Smith andGaylin “Eli” Smith, both of New Orleans, La.; his daughters, Lou I.Smith of Maywood, Ill., Mary Smith of Hillside, Ill., DorothySutton of Brookhaven, and Cynthia Diggs of Atlanta; his brothers,McNair Smith Sr., David “Dee Dee” Smith Sr., and Malco “Pete”Smith, all of Brookhaven, and John Smith of Chicago; his sister,Annie Pearl Bradford of Chicago; and 33 grandchildren, 20great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
