Services for Tommy Lee Avants of Bogue Chitto are 2 p.m.,Saturday, May 10, at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapel with burial inPleasant Hill Baptist Cemetery.

Visitation is today from 4-10 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m.until 2 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Avants, 82, died May 8, 2003, at his residence. He was bornin Bogue Chitto on Sept. 11, 1920, to William Alonzo Avants andMyrtis Lavenia Burns Avants.

He was a retired self-employed painter. He was a member ofPleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a World War II armyveteran.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Nina MarieReid Avants; and a son, Michael Lee Avants.

Survivors are his sons, Rodger Dale Avants and Danny ThomasAvants, both of Bogue Chitto; his daughters, Wanda Gayle Williamsonof Ruth, and Deborah Williams of Brookhaven; his brother, JamesAvants of Fed, La.; his sisters, Jo Pearl Allen of Jackson, andAline Porter of Bogue Chitto; and seven grandchildren; and sixgreat-grandchildren; and a special friend, Mildred Smith.
