Graveside services for Jack Farthing Parkman of Monticello are10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at Monticello City Cemetery.

Mr. Parkman, 79, died Aug. 2, 2003, at King’s Daughter MedicalCenter. He was born in Lawrence County on Nov. 8, 1923, to JamesMonroe and Dova Farthing Parkman.

He was an automobile salesman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Armywith service in World War II and Korea. He was a member ofMonticello Baptist Church, where he was a member of the SundaySchool Seniors Class. He was a member of the Veterans of ForeignWars.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Mary Carolyn SmithParkman, and a son, Bill Parkman.

Survivors are his daughter-in-law, Joan Parkman of Monticello,and a granddaughter, Laura Evans of Sontag.

Moore Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
