Ruble Joe Bowman
Services for Ruble Joe Bowman of Brookhaven are 4 p.m., Monday,Aug. 18, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial in BowmanFamily Cemetery in the Loyd Star community.
Visitation is Monday from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., at the funeralhome.
Mr. Bowman, 62, died Aug. 16, 2003, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Vernon, Ala., to Olen Edmond Bowman andVelma Lee Campbell Bowman.
He was a self-employed logger, and a member of the Church of Godfaith.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and two brothers, RedusBowman and Martin Bowman.
Survivors are his wife, Elaine Wagner Bowman of Brookhaven; hisdaughters, Charlotte Lambert and Rachel Adams, both of Jayess, andPatricia Minton of McComb; his sons, Randy Joe Bowman ofBrookhaven, and Danny Joe Bowman of McComb; his sisters, Inez B.Case, Annie B. Alexander, Edna B. Wilson and Jeanette B. Greene,all of Brookhaven, Elette B. Zeini of Jackson, and Billie Jo Bowmanof Texas; his brothers, Clatus Bowman, Rayborn Bowman, R. B.Bowman, Dennis Bowman, Jimmie Bowman, Kenneth Bowman and TimmieBowman, all of Brookhaven; and nine grandchildren.
Clinton R. Briste
Services for Clinton R. Brister of Brookhaven are 11 a.m.,Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapel with burial inWellman Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is Monday from 5-9 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Brister, 97, died Aug. 17, 2003, at Haven Hall Health CareCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on May 21, 1906, to Williamand Lillie Brister.
He was a retired farmer, served as constable for 12 years, andwas a deputy sheriff and jailer in Lincoln County. He was a memberof Wellman Baptist Church, Topisaw Masonic Lodge 413 and BrookhavenOrder of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 1. He was a Shriner in theWahabi Temple.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Susie NordanBrister; two daughters, Addie Lee Smith and Mary Lee Greer; a son,Enoch Brister; and his brothers, Vince, Winton, Elton and MeltonBrister.
Survivors are his daughter and sons-in-law, Emma Grace and JamesGodard of Brookhaven, and W.S. Smith of Pascagoula; his son anddaughters-in-law, W.C. and Jo Brister of Redwood, and MarcellBrister of Bogue Chitto; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren;and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Curtis Greer, Hilton Greer, Mike Smith, James”Pedro” Greer, William Brister, Jeff Bulter, Eric Bulter and MarkMcCullough.
Leslie Mullins Saxon
Services for Leslie Mullins Saxon of Snellville, Ga., formerlyof Jackson, are 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Wright and FergusonFuneral Home Chapel in Jackson with burial in Lakewood MemorialPark in Jackson.
Visitation is Tuesday from noon – 2 p.m., at the funeralhome.
Mrs. Saxon, 94, died Aug. 14, 2003, at New London Health Centerin Snellville, Ga. She was born in Franklin County to DanielWhitfield and Ollie Ezell Mullins.
She worked for several years as a salesperson at FrancesPepper’s Women’s Speciality Shop.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, LutherSaxon; two sisters; and two brothers.
Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and GerrieSaxon of Decatur, Ga.; her sister, Mildred M. Smith of Brookhaven;three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces andnephews.
