Clinton R. Brister
Services for Clinton R. Brister of Brookhaven were 11 a.m.,Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapel with burial inWellman Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Brister, 97, died Aug. 17, 2003, at Haven Hall Health CareCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on May 21, 1906, to Williamand Lillie Brister.
He was a retired farmer, served as constable for 12 years, andwas a deputy sheriff and jailer in Lincoln County. He was a memberof Wellman Baptist Church, Topisaw Masonic Lodge 413 and BrookhavenOrder of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 1. He was a Shriner in theWahabi Temple.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Susie NordanBrister; two daughters, Addie Lee Smith and Mary Lee Greer; a son,Enoch Brister; and his brothers, Vince, Winton, Elton and MeltonBrister.
Survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, W.C. and Jo Bristerof Redwood; his daughter and son-in-law, Emma Grace and JamesGodard of Brookhaven; his son-in-law, W.S. Smith of Pascagoula; hisdaughter-in-law, Marcell Brister of Bogue Chitto; 12 grandchildren;22 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Curtis Greer, Hilton Greer, Mike Smith, DavidNations, William Brister, Jeff Bulter, Eric Bulter and MarkMcCullough.
James Edwin “Jimmy” Jackson Sr.
Services for James Edwin “Jimmy” Jackson Sr., of Bivins, Texas,were 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 9, at First Baptist Church in Bivins,Texas, with burial in Bethsaida “Y” Cemetery. Hanner FuneralService was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Jackson, 70, died Aug. 6, 2003, at his residence. He wasborn in Lucien on Jan. 11, 1933, to Martin M. and Inez S.Jackson.
He was retired from T & N Warehouse in Lone Star, Texas, andwas an employee of Wal-Mart Supercenter, and former president ofthe Atlanta Independent School District Board. He was a member ofFirst Baptist Church and Bivins Cemetery Association, and was aNavy veteran.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and a son, James E.Jackson Jr.
Survivors are his wife, Loreita Lyles Jackson of Bivins, Texas;his daughter, Lori S. Watson of Dallas, Texas; his sons, John D.Jackson Sr., of Atlanta, Texas, and the Rev. Mark G. Jackson ofTexarkana, Texas; his sisters, Sybil J. Freeman of Brookhaven, andMargie J. Smith of Madison; his brother, John W. Jackson ofNatchez; and three grandchildren.

Rebecca Alden Prestridge
Graveside services for Rebecca Alden Prestridge of Brookhavenwere 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, in Riverwood Cemetery. CommunityFuneral Services was in charge of arrangements.
Miss Prestridge, 26, died Aug. 14, 2003, in an auto accident inBrookhaven. She was born in Oakdale, La., on Oct. 3, 1976, toDeborah Prestridge and Clyde Prestridge.
Preceding her in death was her father.
Survivors are her mother; her brother, Jamey Prestridge ofBrookhaven; her daughter, Destiny Rayne Prestridge of Brookhaven;and her fiance, Dennis Henderson of Brookhaven.
