Services for James A. Lofton of Bogue Chitto are 2 p.m.,Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Calvary Baptist Church with burial in thechurch cemetery.

Visitation is Monday from 6-9 p.m., at Brookhaven FuneralHome.

Mr. Lofton, 79, died Sept. 13, 2003, at his residence. He wasborn in Eldorado, Ark., on May 21, 1924, to Zack Lofton and HaisyMoak Lofton.

He was a retired mechanic, and a member of Calvary BaptistChurch, where he served as a deacon for 46 years.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, AmoleneLofton; and a brother, J.T. Lofton.

Survivors are his wife, Gladys Smith Lofton of Bogue Chitto; hisdaughter and son-in-law, Patricia Lofton Douglas and husband,Carlos, of Brookhaven; his sons and daughters-in-law, James HiltonLofton and wife, Donna, of Fairfax Station, Va., and Phillip andDebra Lofton of Hartland, Wis.; his sisters, Irene Brister ofBrookhaven, Shirley Whittington of McComb, Agnes Foreman ofJacksonville, Texas, Peggy Impson of Mountain View, Ark., andBrenda Tasselli of Loveland, Colo.; his brothers, Mike Lofton ofBaton Rouge, La., and the Rev. Pat Lofton of Epps, La.; eightgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be David Whittington, Eldridge Moak, BillBrister, Jack Lofton, Eric Smith, Tommy Smith, Gregg Allen andWarren Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Wilkinson, MichaelLofton, Patrick Lofton, Jeff Smith, Gerri Dunn, Jeff Impson, ScottLofton and Tommy Lofton.
