Help the United Way help our community

The United Way of Lincoln County officially kicked off its2003-2004 fund-raising campaign Tuesday, and what a worthy projectit is.

This year’s fund-raising goal is $192,000, which will bedistributed among the 21 agencies supported by the United Way. Ifyou give one dollar to the cause, ninety-eight cents of it will beused here in Lincoln County.

The agencies supported by the United Way of Lincoln County andthe funds they receive are:

* Boy Scouts, $19,000.

* City of Brookhaven Recreation Department, $3,500.

* Fellowship of Christian Athletes, $5,000.

* Southwest Mississippi Mental Health, including the LincolnCounty Life Skills, Mental Health Auxiliary, Children’s Servicesand Newhaven Recovery Center, $16,500.

* Girl Scouts, $19,000.

* American Red Cross, $15,000.

* Boswell Group Home, $8,000.

* Boys and Girls Club, $20,000.

* Lincoln County 4-H, $5,000.

* Outreach Ministries, $30,000.

* Brookhaven Food Pantry, $5,000.

* Lincoln County United Way Relief Agency, $5,000.

* Widows & Orphans Center, $5,000.

* Guardian Shelter for Battered Families, $2,000.

* Bogue Chitto-Lincoln County Community Development, $3,000.

* ROTAP (Reaching Out To Another Person), $5,000.

* Brookhaven Beautiful, $2,500.

* Sunshine Shelter, $3,000.

* Habitat For Humanity of Lincoln County, $5,000.

* Pee Wee Football, $1,500.

* Big Brothers-Big Sisters, $4000.

All are very worthy projects.
