Services for the Rev. N.F. Greer of Brookhaven are 2 p.m.,Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with burial inthe church cemetery.
Visitation is Monday from 5-8 p.m., and Tuesday from 8 a.m. – 1p.m., at Brookhaven Funeral Home.
The Rev. Greer, 78, died Sept. 21, 2003, at Central MississippiMedical Center. He was born in Ruth on Aug. 20, 1925, to NewtonFranklin Greer and Erma Attaway Greer.
He was a minister and member at New Salem Baptist Church inFranklin, and had served as pastor of churches in Alabama,Mississippi and Louisiana. He served in the stewardship departmentof the Mississippi Baptist Convention and was director of thestewardship department of the Alabama Baptist Convention for 20years. He was a graduate of Mississippi College and New OrleansBaptist Theological Seminary. He served in the Navy during WorldWar II.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, LesbyGreer and Garvice Greer; and two sisters, Dorothy Braswell andAudena Reeves.
Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Lily Beth Greer ofBrookhaven; his daughter, Deborah Kim Greer of Brookhaven; his sonand daughter-in-law, Mark and Tonja Denise Greer of Mobile, Ala.;his sisters, Wilma Grace Brister of Brookhaven, Gladys Reeves ofMcComb, and Bernice Sumrall of Natchez; his brother, the Rev. R.V.Greer of Brookhaven; and a number of nieces and nephews.
