Teenager found dead in car

The search for a missing 17-year-old girl brought tragic resultsMonday morning for family members and law enforcementofficials.

Brittany Michelle White, of 802 Denton Trail NW, was found deadin her 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier just after 8 a.m., a day and a halfafter she was reported missing, said Lincoln County Coroner-MedicalExaminer Clay McMorris.

A passing motorist spotted her vehicle off the side of OldMalcum Road, where she apparently hit a tree Saturday afternoon,said McMorris.

White was last seen leaving a friend’s house. She had spokenwith her mother earlier that day, said officials.

“She had called and said she was coming home,” said LincolnCounty Sheriff Lynn Boyte.

Her parents, James and Sandra White, reported her missing Sundaymorning, and a search began, said Boyte.

“They had a lot of folks out looking for her,” saidMcMorris.

The search was unsuccessful due to the location of the vehicle,said officials.

“It was off an embankment in a wooded area,” said McMorris.

A motorist spotted the vehicle around 8:15 a.m. Monday, andcalled authorities.

The Jaws of Life were called to remove White from the vehicle.She was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:45 a.m., saidMcMorris.

Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

White had attended Brookhaven High School in the past, but wasnot enrolled in school this year.
